Goodbye Borders

As I’m sure pretty much everyone knows, big changes are afoot in the way media – including books – is delivered to the buying public. More and more, the Internet has become the premiere shopping spot for books, music, video and the like, and this change, naturally, has had a severe impact on the old “brick and mortar” way of doing business. Each day, it seems, another bookstore or music store closes their doors forever… sort of like blacksmith shops when automobiles started to catch on, or typewriter shops when computers became commonplace.

The latest victim of this change is Borders, which was previously a major bookseller right up there with Barnes & Noble. Borders’ management is saying that the company is merely restructuring and regrouping, but with so many Borders stores closing around the country, it’s pretty obvious that the end is near. The photo of The World Is Your Litter Box (above) was taken at the Borders store in downtown San Francisco, which is currently in the process of being picked clean before it closes.

Still, change is inevitable, and on the bright side, the Internet is offering all kinds of very cool options for book buyers and authors such as yours truly. For example, if you have an e-reader, you can download The World Is STILL Your Litter Box and be reading it in minutes without even having to leave your home. (Yes, I know… another shameless plug for my second book. Sorry…I couldn’t resist!)

Sad as it is to see the old ways change and disappear, it is truly exciting to be living in an age when new ideas and innovations seem to be coming at us on a daily basis. Can new advances in litter boxes and scratching posts be far behind?

THE WORLD IS YOUR LITTER BOX 1-YEAR ANNIVERSARY

My, how time flies! It was exactly one year ago today (May 6th) that my hilarious how-to manual for cats, The World Is Your Litter Box, was released, and since then, it has brought untold enjoyment to cats and cat lovers around the world. Sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who bought the book… Steve and I really appreciate it! And if you haven’t yet bought a copy, what are you waiting for? If they don’t have it at your local book store, you can order it from Amazon or Barnes & Noble. For more information about the book and lots of other fun stuff, please visit the official The World Is Your Litter Box website.

Meanwhile, we’re hard at work on the second book, The World Is STILL Your Litter Box, and we’re shooting for a Christmas 2009 release. If you liked the first book, you’ll LOVE the new one.

We’re in the process of compiling a mailing list, so if you would like to receive periodic updates about the new book, including tasty and tantalizing excerpts, please send your email address to quasi@theworldisyourlitterbox.com. BACK FROM PARIS & BOOK SIGNING

Steve and his female have returned from their vacation in Paris (thank God), so now they can get back to paying FULL ATTENTION to me! Naturally, they had to pay for leaving me alone with my pet sitter, so I was forced to do a certain amount of collateral damage around the homestead. I'll have the full damage report in a couple days.

Meanwhile, on Saturday November 15th, from 1-5 PM, Steve will be signing copies of The World Is Your Litter Box at Barnes & Noble in Palmdale, CA. If you live in the area, please drop by and say hi. Barnes & Noble is located in The Marketplace at 39228 10th Street West in Palmdale. For more information, please call 661-272-9958.

WANT TO BE A BOOK REVIEWER?

Have you ever read a convoluted book review and thought to yourself, “I could write a better review than THAT!” Well, fellow cats (and humans), here’s your chance. If you bought The World Is Your Litter Box from Amazon.com, you’re entitled to write a review and tell everyone on Earth what you think of the book. Just go to Amazon’s page for The World Is Your Litter Box, find the “review” link and have at it. Needless to say, it would be most helpful if you said something nice, but all constructive comments would be welcome… hey, I can take the heat! If you bought the book on-line from Barnes & Noble or Border’s (or any other on-line book seller for that matter), you can write a review on their respective pages.

Also, on Monday, Amazon sold out of its first batch of The World Is Your Litter Box and had to order more copies. This means that my clever plan to get the book into the paws of cats worldwide by disguising it as a cute cat book is working! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
